Disney's The Lion King Jr.

During the fall of 2022, I was the student director at The STARS Foundation for their production of Disney's The Lion King JR.

With a cast of 45 students from the ages of 6 to 18, I instructed them in bringing their various characters to life through acting, blocking, and animalistic movement. I assisted with group choreography and lead them in learning several African languages, including Zulu, Setswana, Xhosa, and Swahili. I oversaw the communications behind the crafting of 5 3D-printed masks, and guided all music rehearsals. Throughout leading this process with the assistance of my own director, I assumed the role of Rafiki, singing such classic songs as "The Circle of Life" and "He Lives In You". We performed to rave reviewing audiences over three weekends in the fall of 2022, about a month before embarking on my first national tour!
